January 2024 Induction

As we welcome in the New Year, we will also be welcoming new students to the University, the majority being from the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine (in Ormskirk and at St James’) with start dates staggered through January 2024.

As with the September intake, every effort is taken to ensure our new students feel welcome and have the best possible start to their time at Edge Hill. On this page, you’ll find some key information from Student Services to help you give them a warm welcome.

Induction Week for the majority of new starters will be the weeks commencing:

  • Monday 8 January 2024 (Operating Department Practice – Ormskirk and St James’)
  • Monday 22 January 2024 (Nursing)

New students moving into halls will do so on Sunday 7 January and Sunday 21 January 2024

If you have any queries about moving in, please contact the Accommodation team.

International students

New international students living on campus will move in on either Wednesday 10 or Thursday 11 January 2024. International orientation is on Friday 12 January 2024. Any queries regarding international student arrival or support should be directed to International Student Support or the Catalyst helpdesk initially.

An online International Pre-Arrival Course has been developed in collaboration with departments in EHU. All international students complete this prior to their arrival. Its aim is to help international students to feel fully prepared for their programme and to make their arrival in the UK and transitioning into Student Life as smooth as possible.

For further information regarding the Pre-Arrival course, please get in touch with International Student Support Officer, Kay Spears.

Induction timetables

Induction timetables are accessible via Student Calendar, accessed from the Students’ homepage and Applicant webpages. Links are e-mailed out to students with details of their individual groups from the Student Communications team.

Enrolment

Online Enrolment continues to be in two stages.

  • Stage one happens pre-arrival. Students upload their Unicard photograph, provide identification and sign up to the University’s terms and conditions.
  • Stage 2 is confirmation of attendance which must be completed for students to access their course area on Blackboard. It also triggers the release of student loans.

Unicards

Enrolment team members will deliver Unicards to the designated rooms in time for the start of the designated Unicard distribution session (as outlined by the departments).

Any students who are late in enrolling can collect their cards from the Student Administration building. The team here will also be available to help with any enrolment queries.

All new students will receive a free purple EHU lanyard with their Unicard.
