Health Research Institute (HRI)

The Health Research Institute is a platform for facilitating supporting and nurturing multi and inter disciplinary healthcare research. We draw on collaborative research partnerships with external stakeholders in the NHS, social care, charities, and other health-related organisations.

The HRI offers a focal point for academics from different disciplines and practitioners working across the healthcare sector to share research knowledge, skills, techniques and expertise.

This academic melting pot serves as a catalyst for innovative, collaborative, impactful research and offers a collective platform for communication and dissemination of research activity. It contributes to further development of research cultures that drive career development, leverage external funding and influence healthcare delivery. External collaboration enables strategic development in the context of health policies and research priorities that shape future healthcare. For example, through the reduction of health inequalities (UKRI) and by improving the lives of people with multiple health conditions (NIHR).

Drawing on a wider range of disciplines with research interests in health, HRI membership now includes 85 academics at different stages of their research journey, from early career researchers to Professors, across 15 departments.
