Academic literacy and English language support
The Language Centre offers academic literacy and English language support sessions for international students and home students who do not have English as their first language. Sessions are open to Edge Hill students from any of the University’s courses.
The support sessions are not open to home students whose first language is English. These students, however, can receive help with their academic skills by attending the UniSkills workshops provided by Learning Services.
Support for students studying a language module
If you are a studying a language module with the Language Centre and have a query or feel that you need some support or guidance, you can book an appointment with the Language Support Tutor. Appointments can be face-to-face in room LP0.07 (Law and Psychology building), or online via MS Teams.
The Language Centre offers conversation clubs in English, Spanish and German for students wishing to develop their language speaking skills. Sessions are tutor led and will cover a range of topics.

Open to all registered Edge Hill students and members of staff who wish to improve their language skills the conversation exchange scheme is a language-sharing community for speakers of all languages on campus. The Scheme is a Facebook group which allows you to instantly connect with speakers of other languages.
The Language Lounge is a dedicated space for language learning. It is located in LP0.09 in the Law and Psychology building. The Language Lounge contains resources to support language learning in a quiet and relaxed environment.
