Discover Law
Congratulations on your offer
We’re pleased to offer you a place on one of our Law courses. As part of the School of Law and Criminal Justice, you’ll have the opportunity to study in a dynamic, relevant and professionally informed manner, and in an engaging and supportive environment. Our teaching and student learning is informed by our cutting-edge, internationally recognised legal research.
To succeed in the legal world, you need to be resilient, confident and analytical. Have you got what it takes? You can test out your skills in our on-campus courtroom. And learn from current and former practitioners and internationally recognised academics and take advantage of our extensive industry links.
You’ll soon see why we’re 1st in the North West and Top 10 in the UK for learning resources, teaching and learning opportunities (National Student Survey 2025 – Law).
Facilities
You’ll be based in the Law and Psychology building which provides contemporary teaching and learning facilities for students in the School of Law and Criminal Justice.
The three-storey building includes a 250-seat lecture theatre, seminar and tutorial rooms, and social learning areas which encourage a more informal and interactive style of learning.
It is also where our moot courtroom and law clinic are located. Law, Policing and Criminal Justice students can train and practice their advocacy skills and cross-examination techniques as well as preparing for giving evidence in court.
Prepare for your studies
Before starting your studies, you could:
- Keep up to date with current affairs. Try news websites and documentaries.
- Consider volunteering for a group that reflects your subject of interest
- See your subject in action – watch a Magistrates’, Country or Crown Court case from the public gallery

Supporting you
When you become a student here, you’ll be allocated a Personal Tutor. They will be your main source of support in your academic department. They’ll be with you as you progress throughout your degree, supporting you in three areas: professional/career-related support, pastoral support and signposting you to information you need. But they aren’t just there when you need support. They are also there to celebrate your successes, help with planning your progress and much more.
