User Experience Design and Users
Eligible programmes for this session:
- BSc (Hons) Web Design, Development and Analytics
Session details:
This taster session is designed to give you a real understanding of what to expect when you start your degree programme.
You’ll get hands on experience in ‘understanding the audience and users of a software’ – an essential part of software and web development. You’ll undertake a number of exercises that will get you to think specifically about the users and their experiences.

CyberCiege and Information Extraction
Eligible programmes for this session:
- BSc (Hons) Computing (Networks, Cyber Security and Forensics)
Session details:
To help give you a real understanding of what to expect during your degree, we’ll play a cyber security training game called CyberCIEGE. This is a computer game widely used by organisations to train employees on potential cyber security problems. As well as this, we’ll play a Steganography game, where you’ll need to find the hidden information in pictures to solve puzzles.

Session details:
Get hands on in your taster session and enhance your knowledge before officially starting with us.
You’ll be introduced to Google Collab, an online tool that will help you to write computer code. We’ll guide you through a series of fundamental coding exercises, giving you first-hand experience in solving them.

Behaviour Simulation
Eligible programmes for this session:
- BSc (Hons) Robotics & Artificial Intelligence
Session details:
Get hands on experience with applications that you’ll use in your studies.
You’ll be given the opportunity to use Choregraphe, an application that is used to program for various behaviours, from simple to complex, of a virtual NAO robot. You’ll improve your understanding of the communication between various components, sequential and concurrent execution of various commands and behaviour module.
