Discover Computer Science

Congratulations on your offer

We’re pleased to offer you a place on one of our Computer Science courses. As part of the Department of Computer Science, you’ll apply your knowledge in our £13m purpose-built Tech Hub, which is home to our academic staff who are experts in their specialist areas. The modules you cover will be relevant to what is going on in the sector today, so you graduate with the most up-to-date expertise.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise that 100% of our computer science students are employed or in further study 15 months after graduation (Graduate Outcomes data released 2024 from 2021/22 graduates).

The Tech Hub

We are based in the £13m Tech Hub building. The Tech Hub, is a dynamic learning, teaching and research environment featuring some of the best facilities in higher education. As well as honing your skills on industry-standard equipment, you’ll also have unique access to experimental and emerging technologies, ensuring you’ve got the skills and knowledge needed to enter a rapidly changing job market.

The Tech Hub is home to big data servers, programmable child-sized robots, transparent touchscreen monitors, and interactive teaching screens.

Supporting you

When you become a student here, you’ll be allocated a Personal Tutor. They will be your main source of support in your academic department. They’ll be with you as you progress throughout your degree, supporting you in three areas: professional/career-related support, pastoral support and signposting you to information you need. But they aren’t just there when you need support. They are also there to celebrate your successes, help with planning your progress and much more.

Meet our students

Abbie Henderson

Having gone to an open day, I met the lecturers and staff who were all so lovely. That has remained true during the course of my studies, making me feel like an actual person rather than just a number.

The most memorable moment of my degree so far was developing a fully functional SCADA testbed with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs, integrating anomaly detection, and simulating real-world attacks to validate system resilience.

My favourite thing about my course is that it’s mostly hands-on and code-based practical tasks, which allows me to dive into programming to solve the task at hand.

My degree has given me multiple opportunities that I would not have received otherwise. I would not have been able to achieve my goals without the Fastrack programme at Edge Hill University.

My most memorable moment was definitely winning the end of year showcase for my final project. I was very proud of the Text-To-Speech System I had developed and it felt great to know all the hard-work and research had paid off.

In the world of data, no two days are the same. I do a lot of data cleaning using Python, which involves taking raw data and turning it into useful data that people across the wider business can use.
