The most memorable moment of my degree so far was developing a fully functional SCADA testbed with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs, integrating anomaly detection, and simulating real-world attacks to validate system resilience.
I have always been passionate about cybersecurity, particularly in the area of SCADA/ICS systems. I wanted to learn how to protect critical infrastructure and to combine theory with hands-on experience in threat analysis and intrusion detection.
I chose to study at Edge Hill because the course offers a robust, practice-oriented programme with modern labs and opportunities for applied research in network and industrial systems security. I value the academic support, access to modern resources, and the friendly community. My favourite place on campus is the IT laboratories, where I can work hands-on with security and testing projects. Edge Hill has supported me through access to modern labs, dedicated mentors, and opportunities for applied research.

Throughout my degree I have learnt about threat analysis and detection, especially in SCADA environments. I have also been able to practically implement security solutions, as well as developing my critical thinking and complex problem solving skills. I love the dynamic nature of the field and the fact that every day brings new challenges and learning opportunities.
When I graduate, I hope to work as a cybersecurity specialist, focusing on industrial infrastructure (SCADA/ICS). I would advise anyone studying this degree at Edge Hill to be curious, get actively involved in labs and practical projects, and make the most of the resources and support the University offers.
