Audition preparation: BA (Hons) Drama

Details of how you can prepare for your audition can be found below. Please read all of the sections carefully.

Please arrive approximately 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time. We expect your visit to take no longer than four hours.

On arrival please make your way directly to the main foyer area of the Performing Arts building (number five on the campus map).

A member of the performing arts team will be on hand to greet you. If, for any reason, you are going to be late, please let us know by calling 01695 650950.

Essential information

Your drama audition will be a practical workshop consisting of group and individual exercises.

You should make sure that you wear suitable clothing that will enable you to move freely (no jeans, skirts, etc.). Changing rooms are available for you to use if you would prefer to bring your movement clothes with you and change into them before the workshop.

You will not need to prepare anything before you arrive.

Following that you will have the opportunity to tour the department’s facilities and to look at examples of accommodation. We also hope to make other parts of the university available to you on the day so that you can get a feel for what campus life at Edge Hill might be like.

We want you to ask questions! To help you find out everything you might need to know about the work we do here in drama, staff and student ambassadors will be available during the course of the afternoon so you can have a chat with them about the drama programme and the drama student experience.

What to bring with you

There are various items you will need to bring with you on the day:

  • Photographic ID
Please bring with you photographic ID (i.e. current valid passport or photo-card driving licence). If you have any questions about your ID, please contact the Admissions Team on 01695 650950 prior to your audition.
  • A passport-sized photograph
Please bring with you a passport-sized photograph of yourself. You need to write your name and UCAS Personal ID number on the back.
  • Additional supporting evidence
If you have any additional supporting evidence (i.e. additional references, evidence of work experience, etc), that you would like to show, please bring this with you on the day.
  • Parking notice*
If you are travelling by car you will need to display your parking notice clearly on your dashboard and you will be directed to any available spaces when you arrive at the main entrance. If you have not received your parking notice by post, please download a copy, print and bring this with you.

*Whilst every effort will be made to ensure you have access to parking, please build in sufficient time to park off-campus should you need to. You can check for details of local parking facilities online. Should you need to park in nearby Ormskirk, it is just a short walk to campus or a quick bus ride using the Edge Link bus service.

What happens after the audition?

Following your audition, we will let you know the result as soon as reasonably possible, normally within 10 working days.

If you are successful

Following the audition, you will receive written confirmation of the decision reached by the audition panel. If you are successful and are made an offer, the letter will advise you to log in to UCAS Track to check the specific conditions of your offer. If you have any queries regarding your offer conditions, you must contact the admissions team immediately and certainly within 14 days of the offer being made.

If you are unsuccessful

Try not to be too disappointed. We will notify UCAS and include individual feedback detailing the reasons for the decision to help you prepare for any future applications you may decide to make, and we would always encourage you to reapply in a later cycle.
