Audition preparation: BA (Hons) Drama

This page gives you all the information you need for preparation for your Audition for BA (Hons) Drama. It is essential that you read all of the sections carefully. We also recommend reading our general tips on how to prepare for your audition. Auditions are being held on campus, but we understand that finding the money to travel can be difficult. That’s why we’re offering a few options to help support you.

1. Applicant Travel Support Fund – we understand that visiting campus for your audition can be important in making an informed decision about where you want to study which is why we’ve created the Applicant Travel Support Fund to support applicants in this process.
2. You can also audition by preparing a filmed response to some short tasks. Please get in touch with [email protected] with the email subject line ‘Online Audition’ if you would prefer to send an online submission.

Essential information

Your drama audition will be a practical workshop consisting of group and individual exercises.

You should make sure that you wear suitable clothing that will enable you to move freely (no jeans, skirts, etc.). Changing rooms are available for you to use if you would prefer to bring your movement clothes with you and change into them before the workshop.

Following that you will have the opportunity to tour the department’s facilities and to look at examples of accommodation. We also hope to make other parts of the university available to you on the day so that you can get a feel for what campus life at Edge Hill might be like.

We want you to ask questions. To help you find out everything you might need to know about the work we do here in drama, staff and student ambassadors will be available during the course of the afternoon so you can have a chat with them about the drama programme and the drama student experience.

What to bring with you

There are various items you will need to bring with you on the day:

1. Photographic ID
   Please bring with you photographic ID (i.e. current valid passport or photo-card driving licence). If you have any questions about your ID, please contact the Admissions Team on 01695 650950 prior to your audition.
2. A Passport-sized (approx.) photograph
   Please bring with you a small photograph of yourself, approximately passport sized (45mm by 35mm). You need to write your name and UCAS Personal ID number on the back.
3. Additional supporting evidence
   If you have any additional supporting evidence (i.e. additional references, evidence of work experience, etc), that you would like to show, please bring this with you on the day.
4. Parking notice*
   If you are travelling by car you will need to display your parking notice clearly on your dashboard and you will be directed to any available spaces when you arrive at the main entrance. Please download your copy, print and bring this with you.

*Whilst every effort will be made to ensure you have access to parking, please build in sufficient time to park off campus should you need to. You can check for details of local parking facilities online and please be reassured that, should you need to park in the local town, this is just a short walk to campus or a quick bus ride using the Edge Link bus service.

What happens after your audition?

Following your audition, we will let you know the result as soon as reasonably possible.
