Prepare for your studies

Before starting your studies, you could:

Supporting you

When you become a student here, you’ll be allocated a Personal Tutor. They will be your main source of support in your academic department. They’ll be with you as you progress throughout your degree, supporting you in three areas: professional/career-related support, pastoral support and signposting you to information you need. But they aren’t just there when you need support. They are also there to celebrate your successes, help with planning your progress and much more.

Meet our students

The department of primary and childhood education is home to our diverse community of passionate learners and inspiring teachers, but who better to hear about the department from than our very own students?

I’ve been fortunate enough to complete my final year placement in a school in Cumbria – learning first-hand how rural schools operate and teach differently to city schools.

To me, the best thing about Edge Hill University is the sense of community and support. From the beginning, I felt welcomed, not just as a student, but as someone training to become a professional.

My decision to study at Edge Hill was made after I attended an open day. The whole environment of the university is friendly and positive, and it was somewhere I could see myself thriving.

Edge Hill was the first university open day I came to, and the minute I walked on campus, I knew it was the place for me. Everyone I met was so lovely and welcoming.

I love the fact that I work with families from all over the world – you get to experience so much culture and it really opens your eyes to how vast the world is.

Teaching is not just inspiring new generations, it is being actively part of that formation yourself.

My favourite thing about my degree is the people and the opportunities. Everybody is so friendly and supportive.

I’ve had the opportunity to take on a number of placements which have given me hands-on experience of teaching in a real-life setting.

I would definitely recommend working overseas and experiencing an international school to Edge Hill University students.

I would recommend working at an international school overseas as I have learned so much in the short time I have been a teacher.
