Your Situation: Edge Hill is My Insurance Choice

We’ve outlined below the different scenarios you might find yourself in when you receive your results if you applied to Edge Hill University through UCAS and made us your Insurance choice.

Scenario 1: I’ve met or exceeded the conditions of the offer I accepted from Edge Hill University as my Insurance choice, as well as meeting the conditions of my Firm choice elsewhere.

If you made Edge Hill University your Insurance choice but meet or exceed the conditions of your Firm choice offer from another institution, your place at that University will be automatically confirmed through UCAS.

By meeting or exceeding the conditions of your Firm choice offer, however, you will also become eligible for UCAS Adjustment. This means that if you would now prefer to study elsewhere, including at Edge Hill University, UCAS Adjustment will enable you to seek a place with us.

If you choose to use UCAS Adjustment, you will need to:

  • Register for UCAS Adjustment through UCAS Track. Once registered, you will have up to five days, depending on when your Firm choice offer is confirmed, in which to secure an alternative place;
  • Contact our dedicated Adjustment Helpline on 0808 144 66 44, ensuring that you have your UCAS Personal ID number and your results to hand. We will be happy to discuss course options with you and will be able to provide instant decisions to most callers;
  • Decide if you wish to accept any offer of a place that we might make. You can only receive one formal offer through UCAS Adjustment so you may wish to gather information on suitable course vacancies before making a final decision. If we make you a verbal offer and you wish to accept it, we will send you a formal offer through UCAS Track.

The Adjustment period starts on Thursday 15th August 2019 and ends on Saturday 31st August 2019.

Scenario 2: I’ve met or exceeded the conditions of the offer I accepted from Edge Hill University as my Insurance choice but did not get the results I needed for my Firm choice elsewhere.

If you meet or exceed the conditions of your Insurance choice at Edge Hill University but do not meet the conditions of your Firm choice elsewhere, your place at your Firm choice may still be confirmed, particularly if you only narrowly miss out on the grades or UCAS Tariff points required. You should refer to UCAS Track on the day you receive your results for clarification.

If your Firm choice decide to accept you but you want to change your mind and come to Edge Hill University, please call our Clearing and Confirmation Helpline on 0800 028 66 77, ensuring that you have your UCAS Personal ID number to hand, and we will be happy to look into your options.

If your place at your Firm choice is not confirmed but you meet the conditions of an Insurance choice offer from Edge Hill University, your place with us will be automatically confirmed through UCAS. Our Admissions Office will also send you a Confirmation of Place notification.

Scenario 3: I’ve not met the conditions of the offer I accepted from Edge Hill University as my Insurance choice.

In some circumstances, even if your results do not quite meet your offer conditions, you may still secure a place on your chosen degree with us.

Alternatively, if we cannot accept you onto your original choice of course, we may be able to offer you a place on an alternative programme.
