Hear from a student we’ve supported
I was in the care system, so when I came to Edge Hill on my applicant day, the Student Support Team got in touch with me. They gave me a hand-written card with information about the team which was great.
Unfortunately, when I moved here I had to go straight into isolation in my flat. This happened to be over my birthday and I ended up not being able to go home for over a month. I got in touch with the Student Support Team over this period because I was isolated on my own in a new place which was really tough.
I spoke to Jo from the team and she organised a number of phone calls with me to talk about things I enjoy and could do to pass the time during isolation. Jo and the team have kept in touch with me since and they’re always there if I have any questions or need advice. I even got a Christmas gift from them which made my day.
The team make sure you feel comfortable speaking to them and how you want to communicate is your decision. They’re really helpful and listen to what you have to say. I found them really approachable and easy to talk to about any problems I might be having.Chloe (a second year student)
