The lecturers and their knowledge in the policing field, as well as their constant support has been the best part of the degree for me.

I was inspired to follow a pathway in the policing profession before starting my A Levels. This course has prepared me in every aspect for policing and life skills and currently in process in joining Lancashire Constabulary.

Edge Hill is a key university in terms of teaching policing. I also loved the rural aspect. Both of these things played a key role in my decision to choose Edge Hill.

I have gained several key skills on this degree. For instance, I now have an in depth knowledge of evidence-based practices, policing culture, and vulnerabilities with individuals.

I am now independently patrolled and enjoy being a Special Constable for Lancashire. I have gained so many practical skills through this opportunity and have learned loads in terms of community policing and how to apply this whilst on duty, helping people in the hour of their need.

I have also become more critical and more open-minded to how we can challenge different perspectives on policing. This has been developed during my assignments.

The most memorable part of my degree was being part of the C.E.L.L.S (Choices, Education, Lifelong, Learning, Skills) project. I had the opportunity to work with junior school children, showing them what it’s like to be a Special Constable, as well as educating children on the consequences of crime. This also gave me the chance to share my experiences as a student in this degree with them.

The lecturers and their knowledge in the policing field, as well as their constant support has been the best part of the degree for me. The policing department have really skilled lecturers and in-depth modules. The lecturers have guided me from the start to finish and I am forever grateful for their support and time.

If you make the decision to do this course, become a Special Constable as soon as possible. The experiences and insights you gain are great and help prepare you even more both academically and for a career in the police force.
