Studying at Edge Hill showed me how far I’ve come from home.

I chose Edge Hill University because of its welcoming and supportive environment, especially for international students. The campus felt safe, inclusive, and well organised, which was very important to me as I was moving far from home. I was also drawn to the strong academic support, the well-structured courses, and the beautiful campus, which made Edge Hill feel like a place where I could grow both personally and academically.

I chose my course because I’ve always been genuinely interested in business and how ideas can turn into something meaningful. I also have a clear goal of running my own business one day, and this course felt like the right foundation for that.

My course is well structured, and I’ve been able to study many interesting aspects of business, especially sustainability. What stands out about the teaching and learning environment at Edge Hill is how supportive and inclusive it is. Lecturers are approachable and encourage questions and independent thinking.

Academically, I received a lot of support from both lecturers and classmates, especially while I was adjusting to studying and learning in a language that is not my mother tongue. That support made a big difference to my confidence and progress.

The campus community at Edge Hill University is very supportive. Student life is lively but balanced, with plenty of societies, events, and spaces where students can socialise or focus on their studies. I would recommend the Global Café for bonding activities and the rooftop area on the third floor of the Catalyst, which is a great place to relax after morning classes.

One of the most enjoyable moments for me has been wandering around the beautiful campus and realising how far I’ve come from home. It’s a moment of pride and reflection, knowing that I’ve adapted to a new environment and achieved something meaningful by studying here.

A highlight from my time at Edge Hill University was being able to travel around the UK through trips organised by the International Department. During the Christmas period, they arranged free trips to places like Wales and Chester. These experiences allowed me to explore new places and build lovely friendships.

One of the main academic challenges I faced was adjusting to the university system, especially during my first assignment, as I wasn’t yet familiar with expectations such as referencing and assessment criteria. I overcame this by asking classmates for advice, learning from their experiences, and using feedback to improve. After that, I performed well in all my assignments. This taught me the importance of adaptability, seeking support, and learning from others.

My time at Edge Hill has helped me grow both personally and academically by building my confidence and expanding my professional network. Engaging with staff, peers, and university events has helped me develop strong communication skills and meaningful connections.

I’ve learned how to lead discussions, manage my time effectively, and make informed decisions. These experiences have prepared me for my future career, as I aim to run my own business and understand the importance of leadership, organisation, and communication in achieving long-term success.

Being a Student Ambassador at Edge Hill University has also been very valuable for me. It allowed me to create engaging content and experiences while developing strong communication and leadership skills.

My advice to new or prospective students is to join at least one society or sports club. You don’t have to be amazing at it, but it’s one of the fastest ways to make friends and feel settled.

One thing I wish I had known before starting is that I would have so many beautiful memories here.

If I had to describe my time at Edge Hill University in one word, it would be fab.
