BA (Hons) Secondary English Education with QTS

Secondary English Education with QTS student, Lina Martins

My placement has been a huge learning experience, as I had never attended an English high school. It was definitely the most memorable moment of my degree so far.

Since I was a little girl I always wanted to become an English teacher, from secondary school I picked up an interest in English and I was always good at it. I studied English pedagogy back home (Lithuania) unfortunately due to personal circumstances I was not able to graduate but carried on my dream into my adult years and I’m finally seeing it through.

Edge Hill was the only university closest to me that offered the course I wanted to do in the shortest amount of time. I travel from Manchester but this is not a problem.

Academic skills, time management skills as well as organisational skills are the top 3 things I have developed during my course.

Studying English Literature is my favourite thing to study on this degree.

My personal tutor has been very supportive and helpful with advice on an academic and personal level.

The Catalyst building is very learner centred and supportive and is my favourite place on campus. The library and support services are all housed here under one roof including workstation areas and rooms to book for group projects.

When I graduate I hope to become an English teacher in a secondary school.
