Research Interests

Joanneā€™s research is on PETE, gymnastics, pedagogy, technology pedagogy and the macro/micropolitical issues that affect practice. The PhD focused on the integration of digital technology into a PETE (physical education teacher education) gymnastics programme and explored the associated micropolitics that influenced its use across varying contexts.

Teaching

Joanne McVeigh is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Education and School Sport. She joined Edge Hill in 2010 having worked as a PE teacher at Parklands High School in Chorley (2005-2010).

She currently leads the Level 5 ‘Contemporary Issues in Practical Physical Education and School Sport Teaching’ module, which focuses on the theoretical and practical application of aesthetics activities. Additionally, Joanne leads the Level 4 ‘Foundations of Physical Education and School Sport: Teaching and Learning’, which focuses on the pedagogical approaches to delivering games.
