The best thing about being an Every Child Counts trainer is seeing the impact these interventions have on the children and the adults.

I started working as a Maths Consultant for the Local Authority in 2009, and then the following year, my role included studying for my Master’s with Edge Hill University and Every Child Counts. I have worked with over 150 different schools, both in and outside my LA, supporting their teachers and TAs with maths and implementing the ECC maths interventions. Many of the schools have come back again and again to have new staff trained and to ensure they have the full suite of interventions. I have worked with schools across the UK and internationally.

As a teacher and as a consultant working with individual children, in groups, and in whole-class settings, my understanding of the difficulties some children face has deepened considerably since I started with ECC.

I am now an independent Maths Consultant and trainer of ECC interventions. I love to hear from the teachers and teaching assistants I work with, how the children they are working with have started engaging in maths, how their confidence is growing in the intervention and in the classroom, and how the class teacher is seeing a difference in the children’s attitude to maths and to school in general.
