The process is much more straight forward that I thought it would be. Follow the steps given to you by the university and keep calm during your interview if you have one. You’ll be fine!

Why did you enter Clearing?

“I initially wanted to take a gap year because I didn’t know which course to do. I had a couple of options and couldn’t narrow it down. I hadn’t got the grades I wanted and thought about retaking some exams as they were essential for the subject I wanted to pursue, but my teacher recommended that I go through Clearing and to apply for one of the courses that I had mentioned to her. I trusted her and others who recommended Clearing and went for it.”

What was your perception of Clearing before you went through it?
“I actually thought Clearing was a “lower method” of entering university before I got to know more about it, and feared that I would might not be accepted.”

What research did you do about Clearing to prepare before receiving your results?
“I had received a link to the Edge Hill Clearing page that told me about the steps I would need to take to apply, and I already had my exam results so I had everything ready to go. I researched my course and future job roles and then I was ready to apply.”

Did you attend an Open Day at Edge Hill, and if so, how was it?
“I attended more than once as I wanted to explore several types of courses to be able to narrow down my options. The environment and nature were pleasing to the eye and I quickly loved the look and feel of the campus.”

Have you enjoyed your course and time at University so far?
“I have and I’m given a lot of support. The university and department staff definitely want you to succeed and will help you however they can.”

What advice would you give to students who are going through Clearing?
“The process is much more straight forward that I thought it would be. Follow the steps given to you by the university and keep calm during your interview if you have one. You’ll be fine!”
