Research Interests

Karen’s research interests include: the location of knowledge in the curriculum, specifically the more informal and hidden aspects of curriculum, and the influence of context on both student engagement and learner identity with a particular focus around the second year of undergraduate study.  Her Phd focused on how second year nursing students navigate the second year of their learning journey, negotiating different learning contexts, and in turn how they construct an identity and engage with different forms of knowledge in the undergraduate curriculum.
