Edge Hill University has a strong reputation across the UK, and our Open Days are designed to give prospective postgraduate students a clear picture of what study and campus life are really like on our Ormskirk campus.
We’re hosting two Open Days before the end of 2026 on Saturday 17 October and Saturday 21 November at our Ormskirk Campus for both postgraduates and undergraduates.
Open Days are a great opportunity for students thinking about postgraduate study, with plenty of dedicated activities and information available throughout the event. This guide will outline exactly what you can look forward to, how to best prepare and how to make the most of the day.
Postgraduate programme
Throughout the day there are welcoming talks and discussions with tutors, support staff and current students, who will all be on hand to discuss Edge Hill University’s postgraduate degrees. The sessions will allow you to get a feel for where you’ll be studying and experience what university life could be like. Drop in sessions are running throughout the day too so you can get any specific questions answered by academic teams across all areas.
Alongside these drop in sessions, there’s dedicated postgraduate information talks where you can find out more about our taught and research routes. You can also learn more about the support available and student life at our Student Experience Fair which runs throughout the day. Our Money Advice team are also on hand to talk about funding your degree.

Explore Ormskirk
When you attend an Open Day you also have the chance to explore the beautiful market town of Ormskirk, which is just a 10-minute walk from campus (or just a few minutes on our free bus service). With delicious food and drink available in local restaurants and bars, evening entertainment and stunning outdoor scenery, there is something for everyone in Ormskirk. Many venues provide added benefits for Edge Hill University students and are offering discounts exclusively for Open Day visitors.
Tours and talks
You’ll also find opportunities to attend a range of tours and talks in our programme, on all aspects of university life. We’ve got specific talks on our Students’ Union and how you can get involved, tours of our sports centre, library and self-guided viewings of our accommodation – so you can find out everything you need to know about life at Edge Hill and really picture yourself studying here.
Hear from students
Another benefit of attending an Open Day is that you can chat to students and hear their experiences of studying at Edge Hill. There are current students in all of our buildings and across campus ready to answer your questions and help point you in the right direction. They can give you valuable advice and help you to decide which route is right for you, as well as giving insights into student life.
Alice Swift, who completed a PGCE in Early Years with QTS in 2012, has been teaching for more than a decade and says her time at Edge Hill University confirmed her decision to pursue a career in the profession she now loves.

Plan your travel
Edge Hill University is conveniently situated in the heart of Ormskirk, West Lancashire, with excellent links to Liverpool, Manchester and Preston – and we’re accessible by road and rail. If you’re coming from further afield, we’re also less than an hour from Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester Airport.
If you’re planning to come by car there’s free parking on campus, with no need for a permit. Or if you’re using public transport we have our free EdgeLink bus running from Ormskirk town centre right onto campus.
