As a participant in the “Workforce & Capacity Building” group under the WHO/Europe Public Health Innovation Platform, Edge Hill researchers will share their expertise, research and practical experience.
The team will help identify and support innovative solutions to make health systems fairer, more transparent and better equipped for the future.
The WHO platform brings together global experts to support the Strategy for Harnessing Innovation for Public Health 2025–2030, aiming to transform public health across the European region.
Professor Greg Irving, Director of the Edge Hill Health Research Institute, said: “The future of prevention depends on how well we innovate today. We are looking forward to contributing as a participant to the WHO/Europe Public Health Innovation Platform.”
As part of its role, Edge Hill will focus on tackling some of the biggest challenges facing modern health services, including:
- Staff shortages in public health
- The need for more digitally skilled professionals
- Preparing healthcare staff for new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI)
- Finding better ways to attract and keep talent in the health sector
- Building skills and tools to strengthen healthcare systems overall
The platform helps bridge the gap between new ideas and real-world results by bringing international partners together, sharing expert advice, and contributing to major events like the WHO/Europe Innovation Summit.
