We are excited to announce that Isha Bhukya and Mitesh Salvi, representing Edge Hill University, have achieved 2nd place in the prestigious Unibots UK 2025 competition.
“This is unquestionably a great achievement and is testament to the hard work and ingenuity of Isha and Mitesh and their supporting team. It is also a very significant result for showcasing the outstanding capabilities of engineering at Edge Hill University.”

Associate Head of Department – Engineering
Unibots is a national robotics competition held in Cambridge, where university teams from across the UK compete to design and build autonomous robots capable of completing complex tasks. Co-hosted by the University of Cambridge and Heriot-Watt University, the event challenges participants to demonstrate technical expertise, innovation, and problem-solving skills in a real-world engineering context.
The competition entry involved designing and building an autonomous robot capable of identifying, collecting, and depositing ping pong and mini rugby balls at designated locations using AprilTags. The robot also needed to implement collision avoidance, operate within a time limit, and adhere to size constraints set by the competition rules.
“The competition was an incredible experience! One of the highlights was seeing my robot successfully navigate obstacles and complete the task autonomously under time constraints. It was also fascinating to see how different teams approached the challenge, particularly how they designed their robots for ball collection. I had the opportunity to exchange ideas and spend quality time with other teams, making it a truly valuable and enjoyable experience. Edge Hill has played a crucial role in helping me achieve this. My degree in Intelligent Automation and Robotics provided me with a solid foundation in robotics, programming, and machine learning. The lecturers have been incredibly supportive, offering guidance and technical expertise that helped refine my project. Additionally, the Tech Team assisted me in designing the robot parts, and my professor provided valuable coding support, especially when I encountered challenges or needed to debug my code.”
