  • Midwifery, paramedic practice and nurse paramedic – all 3rd best in the UK;
  • Mathematics – 5th;
  • Biomedical science – 8th;
  • Accountancy – 10th.

Subjects judged to be in the top 20 include:

In the North West, Edge Hill’s performance is equally impressive. Midwifery, paramedic practice and mathematics all hold the top spot among the region’s 12 universities, while education, nutrition and health, biology, biomedical science, English, and psychology have each secured second place. Children’s nursing ranks fourth in the region.

“We are immensely proud of our strong performance in this year’s Guardian University Guide.

“These rankings reflect the dedication of our staff and the ambition of our students. Edge Hill University remains committed to offering high-quality, student-focused education and fostering an environment where students thrive academically and personally.”

Dr John Cater, Vice-Chancellor of Edge Hill University

Successes in key healthcare subjects such as nursing, midwifery and paramedic practice are evidence of the University’s ongoing commitment to training the healthcare professionals of the future, supporting the NHS to achieve its long-term goals of building up a stronger workforce and tackling health inequalities.

The excellent placing for subjects like maths and biomedical Science reflects Edge Hill’s positive expansion in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). A new £17.4m Life Sciences building – part of a huge £53.4m investment in the Ormskirk campus, including a new Students’ Union and accommodation for 232 students – will support cutting edge research and expert teaching, and provide even more opportunities for students to gain practical skills and experience.

These rankings highlight Edge Hill University’s academic excellence and its focus on ensuring students receive the best possible learning experience.
