Spring break guide 2024

We hope that you’ve had a great start to 2024 with us and that we’ve been there for you if you needed any information, advice, or support. As we head into spring break, we’ve put together some useful information about how student services, support and activities will operate. We hope you enjoy your spring break and return rested and recharged.

Staying in halls over Easter?

By now, you should have already told us if you are heading home for Easter or staying on campus. If not, please log on to the accommodation portal to complete your survey.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email: [email protected]

Housekeeping

The last housekeeping visit to all halls of residence will be on Thursday 28 March. Housekeepers will provide each cluster with a supply of bin bags for you to use. You will need to put bags of rubbish in the outdoor bin area located by your halls. If you are unsure of where your bin area is, you should ask your housekeeper in advance.

If you are leaving halls for the break, please clear out the fridge and switch off all lights to conserve electricity and prevent any food from spoiling. Housekeeping will resume on Wednesday 3 April 2024.

Campus support

Over the spring break, Campus Support will be the one-stop shop for all your frontline services and the first point of call for any issues you may have. The team are all first aiders trained in mental health first aid and will be available 24/7 every day. Please call 01695 584455 or 07785 928 911 if you need any help or support.

Your health and wellbeing

We recommend checking your local GP’s website for their opening times over the Spring break. Remember you can call 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk to get medical help 24/7.

You can get in touch with the Wellbeing team by emailing [email protected] or calling 01695 650988. Please be aware that the Wellbeing team are out of the office and will not be offering appointments between Friday 29 March to Tuesday 2 April 2024. Appointments will be available from Wednesday 3 April 2024.

Visit the Wellbeing webpages for more information, access to self-help resources and details about local healthcare services. In an on-campus emergency, please call 07785 928 911 or 4227 from internal phones in halls. We have also created a list of self-care activities to help your wellbeing through exam season, as well as our top tips for studying.

Out of hours, the Samaritans provide confidential support 24 hours a day if you are in any distress. You can reach them on 116 123.

Remember, Togetherall is free and available 24/7. The site provides a safe space online to get things off your chest, explore your feelings, get creative and learn how to self-manage your mental health and wellbeing. If you want to find support then check out Student Space for guidance.

Whatever you’re feeling, help and guidance is available. Explore a range of trusted information, services and tools to help you with the challenges of student life.
