General resources

Abstracting and indexing databases are useful resources to utilise for your research strategy as they contain numerous records of research outputs.

Scopus

Provided by Elsevier, this abstracting database indexes science, health, social science, arts and humanities, spanning articles, books, conferences and more. The database aims to cover all quality academic literature and is a great way to see find published material that goes beyond the University’s library holdings. Where available, full text links to our subscribed content and freely available open access material are provided.

Dimensions

A great alternative to Scopus. The University does not have a subscription, but the free version suits most research needs. Dimensions integrates altmetric data, so you can easily view which of your search results have had the most social media and societal impact.

Semantic Scholar

Like Scopus and Dimensions, but uses artificial intelligence to determine the relations between papers. When tracking citations trails, you can determine which sources are key, minor and methods-based citations.
