Developing Research Culture

Research Training

ISR contributes to the ongoing development of a sustainable and vibrant research culture at Edge Hill University, and assists in the development of EHU academic staff through the provision of research training.  The Institute hosts a series of training sessions throughout the year focused on academic writing, idea generation and grant writing, plus a fully funded academic writing retreat.

Networks, Research Activity, and Event Support

ISR also acts as an inter-disciplinary, cross-departmental hub, coordinating and supporting research.  The Institute both initiates and supports research, providing an interface for practitioners and academics to inform new ways of working and learning, and creates a platform for knowledge exchange.  The Institute aims to:

  • Provide an academic space for critical and informed reflection and debate, to build networks, to initiate and support internationally recognised research, and to encourage joint working and collaborative practice.
  • Provide support for established and new research centres across the University that seek focus on specific areas of the Institute’s remit.
  • Provide support of events such as lectures, seminars, roundtables, conferences focused on the themes of the Institute.
  • Provide support for Research Centres, Groups and Networks; interdisciplinary activity hosted by research centres, groups or networks that fits with the Institute’s theme.

EHU Staff: If you are organising research activity or an event that relates to the ISR remit and would like to explore ISR support, please visit our wiki page.
