How to apply

English Language Development Programme

There are 2 ways you can apply:

Directly to Edge Hill:

You will need to download an application form.  Please read the guidance notes carefully before completing and make sure that you have included all the documents that are required.

There is no separate application form to complete for a pre-sessional programme. You will need to download an application form for your main course of study. Please read the guidance notes carefully before completing and make sure that you have included all the documents that we will need.

There is no separate application form to complete for a pre-sessional programme. Our agent or partner will provide you with an application form to complete for your main course of study. Once you have submitted the application form and all the supporting documentation our agent or partner will send them to our International Office.

Next steps

Step 2: Receive offer

If you applied directly to Edge Hill:

Once you have applied we will contact you by email to let you know that we have received your application.

We will make a decision about your application as soon as possible.

If you send your application by post it can take up to 2 weeks to arrive in the UK. This means that in some cases it may take up to 4 weeks from the time you send us your application before we can actually inform you of our decision. We will keep you updated on the progress of your application however if you at all concerned please contact us.

If your offer is unconditional we will email your offer letter. If your offer is conditional you will receive it by email and once you have met all the conditions your offer will become unconditional.

If you applied via our agents or partners:

We will send your offer letter directly to our agent or partner so that they can help you with the next stages in the application process as quickly and effectively as possible.

We will try, wherever possible, to make a decision about your application within 72 hours however please be aware that this may sometimes take a little longer.

We will keep our agent or partner informed of the progress of your application so if you have any concerns or questions please ask them so they can advise you.

Step 3:  Accept offer and apply for Accommodation

Once you have received your offer letter (conditional or unconditional) please make sure that you let us know that you have accepted it by emailing international@edgehill.ac.uk. You must include your full name and student id number (this will be on your offer letter) in your acceptance email.

We guarantee on-campus accommodation for all international students if you apply by 1st August.

If you would like to live on campus, you should complete the online application form (Accommodation Application Form 2019) as soon as you are offered a place at Edge Hill.

Step 4: Pay deposit

When you have accepted your offer you will then need to pay the deposit requested.  You can do this in a number of ways. Visit our Finance Information Page for further information.
Once we have received your deposit payment we will then be able to issue your CAS letter.

Step 5: Apply for your CAS

You will need to apply for a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) to be issued by Edge Hill University for your studies here, this is then used to apply for a Tier 4 Student visa. To do this you should complete the CAS Request Form and email it to international@edgehill.ac.uk

We aim to process CAS requests within 48 hours.

If you do not require a Tier 4 visa please inform the International Office.

Step 6: Receive CAS and apply for Visa

In order to apply for a visa you will need to have received a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) letter to show to the UK Border Agency.

We will send your CAS letter by email once you have met any conditions of your offer and paid the required deposit.

Summer Programme

Directly to Edge Hill

You can apply to our 2019 summer programme using the application form.

To enquire about the English Language Summer Programme please contact international@edgehill.ac.uk in the first instance.

A deposit of £500 is required at the time of application. All remaining fees must be paid by 1st May 2019.
