How we will communicate with you

We will need to communicate with you at various points throughout your time at Edge Hill University.  As an Edge Hill student, it is your responsibility to make sure that the personal details we have for you are correct. You can update your contact details by accessing your student record online.

Edge Hill University email address

As a student you will receive your Edge Hill University email address in your stage one of enrolment email. You can access your account at edgehill.ac.uk/students.

Please check this account daily. This will be the main way for us to communicate with you about the University, your course and life on campus.

Personal email address

Providing us with your personal email address is optional when you enrol to study here. All official communications will be sent to you via your University email address. Once you graduate, our Alumni team will use your personal email to communicate with you and your personal email address is also used to allow you to recover your Edge Hill University email address via ehu.ac.uk/reset.

Your University network account which includes email will typically close within 30 days of your course end date. After this point we recommend you continue to use your personal email for anything which isn’t related to Edge Hill.

Text message

We may communicate with you via text message for urgent messages, such as campus closures or cancelled lectures.

MyEHU

edgehill.ac.uk/students is the place to go to access everything you need as an Edge Hill student. Through MyEHU you can access your university email, Learning Edge and timetable, as well as finding out about opportunities to get involved on campus. MyEHU is updated regularly so please keep checking the site to find out about latest news and events as well as important information, policies and procedures.

Post

We may occasionally send you information by post. Please make sure your home and term time addresses are both kept up to date by visiting edgehill.ac.uk/services/student-record.

Any confidential postal communications will be sent in envelopes addressed personally to you.

Learning Edge

Learning Edge (sometimes referred to as Blackboard) is our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) where you can access web-based learning and teaching systems. Your tutors will use Learning Edge to communicate with you about your course and modules.

Your tutor may use the following tools in Learning Edge to communicate with you:

  • Announcements to alert you of late-breaking information such as room changes.
  • Notifications of actions you need to take such as upcoming deadlines.
  • Discussion boards for speaking to other students on your course or modules.
  • Email for sending messages to your Edge Hill University email address.

Social Media

The University uses social media to share information about news and events for our current students. Urgent messages, such as campus closures during bad weather, will also be shared on social media. We may also communicate with you via social media channels or invite you to join groups relating to your course or accommodation. We will only communicate directly with you through social media if you have selected you would like to receive communications from us.
