EHU Cover block

Add an EHU Cover block to the top of your page if you want a large banner image. Reserve for landing pages/top-level category pages.

You can also change the width of the EHU Cover block – None (1280px wide), Wide width (1400px wide) and Full width (100% wide). Wide width and None are generally preferred.

You should manually add the title of your page to the EHU Cover block and check the “Hide Page Title” checkbox at the bottom of the Page sidebar. You can also input text to appear before (“Pre Title”) and after the title (“Subtitle”). Reserve pre-text for a label (for example “Department”) and the text after for a very short summary or qualifying text – although both are optional. Site-specific CTAs can appear here as well, for example “Book an open day”.

Paragraph block (Default and Intro text block styles)

Most pages will benefit from intro text, where the first paragraph is slighter larger than standard body text and helps explain the purpose of the page.

Media & Text block

The Media & Text block is the preferred way to align an image with text and/or any other block content.

EHU Card block inside Column block

The EHU Card block should typically appear in a Column block layout, rather than as a full-width element, so these blocks are nested inside the Column block.

Cards are typically used to link to sub/child pages, but don’t have to link to anything. You can also change the width of the Column block – None (1200px), Wide width (1400px) and Full width (100%).

EHU CTA block

If you have a single call-to-action (CTA) that you want to highlight, you can use the EHU CTA block.

Reserve for situations where you want to include some qualifying text and/or this is the primary purpose of the page ie “Register for this event” or “Complete the survey now”.

If you want to include one or several call-to-action (CTA) button/s without subtext, you can use the EHU Buttons block.

EHU Expanding Box block

Use the EHU Expanding Box block to show and hide content on your page. Use in combination with any other blocks, nested inside.

You can use the List view button to keep track of which blocks are inside an EHU Expanding Box block – drag and drop blocks to move them round and change the order.

EHU Number Panel block

Use the EHU Number Panel block with Columns block to illustrate a series of statistics, USPs and/or numbered steps.

Use this block if you want to include Font Awesome icons and text in a card or panel layout. You can optionally include subtext and a link for each icon.

You don’t need to combine this block with columns to arrange several on a single row. The “Panel” slider lets you change the layout from a small button to a larger panel too:

EHU Promo Panel

Use this block to promote a single item or activity as large promo panel.

You can choose a single image or video to accompany your message. The CTA is mandatory so all EHU Promo Panel blocks need to include a link.

Gallery block

You can include a regular image gallery mosaic using the standard WordPress Gallery block.

You can manually add a specific quote and/or use the filters to display quotes associated with an academic subject, department and/or specific tag.

Edge Hill Founded

On 7 February 1882 seven Liverpool businessmen and philanthropists – Alexander Balfour, Thomas Matheson, Samuel Smith, William Crosfield, W P Sinclair, S McDairmid and S G Rathbone – founded Edge Hill College.

A large house on Durning Road in the Edge Hill district of Liverpool was adapted and formally opened on 24 January 1885, welcoming 41 new students.
