Support sessions for families of children with dyslexia
As part of our continued support for Jamie Oliver’s Dyslexia Revolution campaign, the Faculty of Education is offering a brand-new series of free online sessions for parents, carers, families, and wider school communities. These sessions are specially designed to offer practical guidance and support for families of young people with dyslexia, particularly during those key transition points in the school year that can be especially challenging.
Whether your child is starting high school, moving up a year in primary school, or could benefit from technology to support them; these sessions will provide valuable tools, strategies, and resources to help them thrive.

Supporting Your Child’s Transition to High School
10 September 2025 – 6pm – 7pm (Online)
In this session, we will focus on practical tips and emotional strategies to help young people with dyslexia feel confident and prepared for this important step. Parents and carers will gain insights into common challenges and how to ease the move into a new learning environment.
Supporting Your Child’s Transition to a New Academic Year (Primary School)
20 August & 16 September 2025 – 6pm – 7pm (Online)
The second session, ‘Supporting Your Child’s Transition to a New Academic Year (Primary School)’, will explore ways to help children with dyslexia settle into their new class with confidence. We will offer simple, effective strategies that will make the transition for your child smoother and more manageable.
Free Technology to Support Your Child
24 September & 6 October 2025 – 6pm – 7pm (Online)
The third session, ‘Free Technology to Support Your Child’, will introduce a range of no-cost digital tools designed to help children with dyslexia at home and in the classroom. Parents and carers will learn how to access and use these resources to support reading, writing, and organisational skills.
All sessions are free to attend, with time for Q&A and practical takeaways.
