Body Oriented Psychological Therapy (BOPT) has a long tradition and is deeply rooted in psychodynamic and humanistic psychotherapy as well as reform gymnastics. Over the course of the last 30 years BOPT developed from a relative niche position into a mainstream modality in the wider family of psychotherapy. This is due to a systematic anchoring in the theoretical framework of an embodied cognition paradigm as well as an increasing number of clinical trials across different mental disorders. In addition, BOPT interventions are increasingly recognised and utilised in the context of talking therapies. My talk will present a corresponding overview.

Would you also be interested, in attending Professor Frank Rohricht and Nina Papadopoulos’ online workshop on the 25 July 10-12pm?
Title of workshop: The process, therapeutic relationship and the interventions of body-oriented psychological therapies.
