Iphigenia in Aulis

by Euripides
Transadapted by Anne Washburn

In a bold retelling of an Ancient Greek tragedy, Iphigenia in Aulis is reimagined against the backdrop of Woodstock ‘69. King Agamemnon faces a life-or-death decision: save his family, or sacrifice his daughter, Iphigenia, to win the favour of Artemis. His wife, Clytemnestra, uses her spirited resistance to defy his actions, whilst a jolly chorus sings, drinks, smokes, laughs and watches the fatal downfall of Iphigenia unfold before their eyes. In a fusion of myth and music, this modern and fresh drama urges us to ask: how much are we willing to sacrifice for validation?

This amateur production of “Iphigenia in Aulis (Washburn)” is presented by arrangement
