On Monday 20th May, Edge Hill University will be hosting the Diverse Voices: Mature Student Alumni Panel. Three Edge Hill University alumni, who were all mature students at university, will make up the panel and are back to discuss their experiences of life after university.

The panellists will share their stories and experiences of job hunting, recruitment and employment, reflecting on navigating personal challenges and sharing their achievements.
Often people think of mature students as being in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s but you’re actually a mature student if you start an undergraduate degree aged 21 or above and aged over 25 for a postgraduate degree. Over a third of all students starting undergraduate degrees in UK universities in 2018 were mature students. Mature students may face several barriers in pursuing further education, including family and work obligations that make it difficult to prioritise education, financial constraints, face lack of confidence in their academic abilities as well as the potential to feel isolated from their younger peers. Despite this, many mature students thrive at university and go on to achieve career success, proving that these barriers can be surmounted and contribute to success.

Book now and join us to hear their inspirational stories! Those who attend are invited to submit their questions to the panel in advance of the talk. The panellists are yet to be confirmed but will join the event online via Microsoft Teams. You can join via Teams too or join us on campus for a live stream. Please indicate in the online booking form how you would like to attend.
