Why should I let you know?

Edge Hill aims to be a caring community where its members feel safe, supported, and able to access help when they need it. We recognise that students may experience a range of personal, emotional, mental health, and wellbeing difficulties during their time at university, and we want to ensure that support is available as early as possible.

We do not believe that students should be responsible for managing other people’s wellbeing. However, we encourage members of our community to let us know if they are concerned about their own mental health and wellbeing, or if they are worried about another student.

Often, people assume that someone else will notice a concern or reach out for help. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. By sharing concerns early, we can often provide support before difficulties become more serious and help students access the assistance they need.

If you are concerned about another student, we encourage you, where appropriate, to check in with them and let them know about the support available from the Edge Hill Mental Health & Wellbeing Team. You can also use this referral form to let us know about your concerns.

We recognise that it is not always easy, or appropriate, to discuss concerns directly with someone. This referral form provides an alternative way to share concerns when you feel unable to speak with the person yourself, or when you believe they may need additional support.
