Due to overwhelming demand and capacity, we offer the following on and off campus support for pre 16 groups.
On campus visits
DiscoverSMART for Years 8/9
This on campus day, designed for Year 8 and Year 9 students, will allow students to learn more about how their choices now will affect their future, based around the SMART targets.
The day will include an Introduction to higher education talk, campus tour and current student Q&A, along with the following two workshops:
Workshop One: Paving the Way
This interactive session explores the routes students can take through GCSE options, post-16 and beyond.
Workshop Two: Project Boost
Project Boost allows students to use their creativity to develop a service to provide students with support in an area of their choosing. After working in teams, students will present their ideas to the group.
The dates of the 2023/24 academic year’s DiscoverSMART on-campus events will be announced over the Summer.
Please note, there are a limited number of places per school (30 pupils) and the event has a capacity of 90 pupils per day. We would request that students participating in the events meet one or more of our widening participation criteria.

Introduction to Higher Education – Virtual recording
The team have developed a virtual Introduction to Higher Education talk for Years 7-11 that you are able to show within your school during assemblies, form time or via student/parental portal systems.
This session focuses on the journey from high school to University, introducing students to what University is all about, entry requirements, choice of courses and the difference between school and University.
