Career Alternatives to Midwifery
Midwifery is a highly valued and rewarding profession; however, we recognise that not all students and graduates will follow a traditional pathway into registered midwifery roles immediately after graduation. Workforce pressures, recruitment challenges, and changing personal circumstances mean that it is increasingly important to explore and understand a wider range of career opportunities.
This resource has been developed to support midwifery students and graduates at Edge Hill University in identifying and pursuing alternative career pathways that build on the knowledge, skills, and experience gained during their degree. These pathways may be clinical, non-clinical, or indirectly related to midwifery, but all offer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to health, wellbeing, and wider public services.
