Admissions FAQs
Before application
We have a wide range of programmes available ranging from Undergraduate degrees to Postgraduate qualifications.
Visit our course searchThe application process varies depending on your type of programme and whether you need to apply through the University Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), DfE Apply, or direct to Edge Hill University.
Transfers are considered on an individual basis, please contact the admissions office for further information.
All programmes have specific requirements and these are detailed on the individual course pages.
After application
If you have applied through UCAS for one of our full-time undergraduate programmes, we will send you an acknowledgement card within 48 hours to confirm that we have received your application.
Once you have submitted your application you will normally receive a decision from us within 10 working days of receipt of the acknowledgement card. Sometimes, at busy times, decisions can take longer than usual.
In order to make changes to your application you will need to contact the body through which you applied.
You cannot make changes to your personal statement once you have submitted your application. If you are applying for another programme after submitting your initial application you can contact Admissions directly with a new personal statement.
After offer
If you have been made a conditional offer for a September start you are required to meet the conditions of your offer by 31 August. In-year intakes will have different deadlines. Any other deadlines will be specified either in your offer conditions or your offer letter.
Deferral requests are considered on an individual basis. Please e-mail admissions@edgehill.ac.uk with your contact details and give reasons for your request.
For Education (QTS) courses you are required to produce your original qualifications. If you were unable to provide these at your interview then you can post your originals to us at the address below, or call into the Admissions Office (Student Administration Building, First Floor) any weekday between 9am to 5pm. If you are unsure as to whether you have already provided these, please refer to your offer conditions for clarification. If you are studying a Health course, you can provide your certificates via email.
For all other courses, if your offer states that you are required to provide proof of your qualifications you can either post photocopies into us at:

Medical Clearance
Offers for Teaching, Nursing and a selection of Modular Undergraduate Degrees are offered on the requirement that potential trainees are able to meet the statutory requirements of the profession for physical and mental fitness.
You will be sent full details and a medical questionnaire within three months of the start of your programme. Our Occupational Health Adviser (OHA) will consider the information you provide and will confirm whether or not you meet the requirements. You may, exceptionally, be contacted for further details by the OHA.
DBS Enhanced Disclosures
You will be sent full details on how to apply for your DBS application along with your medical questionnaire. We will provide you with guidance notes indicating what information/proof of identity you need to provide. It is important that you provide the correct information to ensure your application is processed as quickly as possible. Failure to do this will lead to a delay in the receipt of your certificate.
Although you may already have a DBS Enhanced Disclosure Certificate, you will still need to go through this process again for Edge Hill. The guidance notes will explain this to you.
You can also find more information specifically regarding DBS checks on our website which outlines our policy on applicants with criminal convictions and others.
