Health and safety at the University, compliance with legal aspects relating to campus buildings and fire safety, and information on environmental and social sustainability. The University operates a safety management system (SMS) to meet the requirements set out in the Institutional Health, Safety and Environment Policy and the policy commitments identified within faculty and departmental statements. The purpose of this system is to ensure continuous improvement in health and safety standards within the University. The aim is to support and enhance the core activities within the University (teaching and research) as well as other activities to ensure that these are undertaken in a manner that is as safe as is reasonably practicable.
