Discover Politics and International Relations

Congratulations on your offer

We’re pleased to offer you a place on one of our Politics and International Relations courses. As part of the Department of History, Geography and Social Sciences, you’ll have the opportunity to study in a dynamic, relevant and professionally informed environment.

When you study politics at Edge Hill, you’ll enhance your employability through networking opportunities, conferences and events. You’ll also put your knowledge into practice with report writing, debates and presentations, which are designed to give you a working knowledge of political structures and organisations. Gain the tools to lead the next generation and shape the political landscape for the better.

Facilities

You’ll benefit from studying in our GeoSciences building, home to contemporary teaching and learning facilities which include a friendly and supportive learning environment to ensure that your studies are a rich and rewarding experience.

Our building features a large lecture theatre, small group teaching rooms, IT facilities and smaller tutorial spaces. There is also a large social area which encourages a more informal and interactive style of learning.

Prepare for your studies

Before starting your studies, you could:

  • Follow the BBC, The Guardian and Dispatches for political news
  • Get involved with local politics, like a Party, charity or think tank
  • Read biographies, autobiographies or diaries of political figures
Big Ben and houses of Parliament on a rainy day.

Supporting you

When you become a student here, you’ll be allocated a Personal Tutor. They will be your main source of support in your academic department. They’ll be with you as you progress throughout your degree, supporting you in three areas: professional/career-related support, pastoral support and signposting you to information you need. But they aren’t just there when you need support. They are also there to celebrate your successes, help with planning your progress and much more.

Meet our students

The process for applying was so simple and very easy. There is nothing that I would do differently. Once I had sent my application off to Edge Hill they had responded within an hour. I waited a day to see if any of my other choices responded. The day after results day I accepted my place at Edge Hill and soon after that I received emails about choosing my accommodation and transferring my details.
