Discover Film, Media and Broadcast Production

Congratulations on your offer

We’re pleased to offer you a place on one of our Film, Media and Broadcast Production courses. As part of the Department of Creative Arts, you’ll enjoy a rich academic experience, underpinned by an eclectic mix of staff research and opportunities or you to develop into the next generation of creative arts professionals.

Get ready to create. Film, media and broadcasting is buzzing with technical challenges, and stories coming to life on both big and small screens. Experiment with your own style of production and collaborate, ready for the global industry. Make friends that will last a lifetime. That’s what university is all about.

Creative Edge

Film, media and broadcast production students benefit from high-definition television studios with broadcast capacity and full production capabilities. The facilities include camera channels that can be operated via a studio configuration or hand-held setup, as well as production galleries and control rooms with reference lighting.

Based in the £17million Creative Edge building, you can expect to use industry-standard equipment relevant to your course. This could be camera, sound and lighting equipment if you are studying BA (Hons) Film or BA (Hons) Media. BA (Hons) Film and Broadcast Production students will also be able to add vision mixers, sound mixing consoles, a chroma key infinity wall, and fully-populated motorised lighting rigs to their arsenal. Media editing booths are also available, along with â€˜Edgehog Radio, Edge Hill’s student-run radio station.

Prepare for your studies

Before starting your studies, you could:

  • Listen to industry news: themediaclub.com
  • Watch a film a week – and they don’t all have to be in English, or made in the last 10 years
  • Whenever you watch a film or TV show, keep a note of what you found interesting and why

They’ll be with you as you progress throughout your degree, supporting you in three areas: professional/career-related support, pastoral support and signposting you to information you need. But they aren’t just there when you need support. They are also there to celebrate your successes, help with planning your progress and much more.

My passion is radio. I’ve hosted shows on hospital radio, and had some fantastic opportunities to develop my presenting skills and build up industry contacts….Getting that first foot in the door from Edge Hill has really helped.

I love the variety on my degree. Monday to Friday, I’m never doing the same thing twice. I’ve been able to stretch my comfort zone to find out what I enjoy, and what I’m good at.
