Inside the teen mind: what’s happening to mental health?

During this interactive session we’ll get you thinking about what is going on in young people’s minds. You’ll get to consider the factors that contribute to mental health and debate whether life events can be ranked into levels of significance.

Finally, we’ll consider how we can balance stressful life events with protective factors for childhood resilience from an individual, family and community perspective.

Living healthier lives’ and ‘making healthier choices’ are dominant ways of seeing health and wellbeing in the contemporary world. In this session, you’ll explore your views of the meaning of health and wellbeing and how these are influenced by factors beyond behaviour and choice. This will then lead into a discussion on how health behaviours and choices are shaped by a wider array of factors. How are these key to understanding both individual health and inequalities in health within, and between, different age groups and populations? These are foundational ideas for your degree programme.

You’ll also get the chance to chat to our current students about their learning experiences, and to speak to tutors directly about your course.
