Arts Centre

The £7m Arts Centre is home to Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre, and Music Production students. It hosts a diverse range of professional and student productions and performers in the Rose and Studio Theatres, and is open to both students and the local community.

Part of the Department of Creative Arts’ performance environments include dance and drama studios, theatre construction and costume workshops, digital sound and design studios, music technology and practice studios. The Studio Theatre also functions as a fully equipped aerial performance space

Biosciences

The Biosciences building incorporates modern laboratories, with some of the best-equipped facilities in the country. Resources include fluorescence and scanning electron microscopes, DNA extraction and analysis equipment, and climate-controlled insectories.

Students are taught within a short travelling distance of field sites, such as one of the finest saltmarsh and dune systems in Europe, and a farm sympathetically managed for biodiversity.

Business School

This building provides state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities for students in Edge Hill Business School (Business & Management; Accountancy and Marketing). The three-storey building offers a 100-seat lecture theatre and modern seminar and meeting rooms. There are also social learning areas which encourage a more informal and interactive style of learning, in addition to an attractive roof garden and atrium.

Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre

In this building our Health and Social Care and Medicine students develop their practical skills before going into clinical settings. The centre is equipped with wards, patient consultation rooms, theatres, ultrasound scanners, and state-of-the-art patient simulators – all to support students with practicing their skills in a safe space.

Creative Edge

The £17m Creative Edge building hosts Animation, Film, Television, Media and Social Science students. Key features include TV studios with broadcast capacity and full production capabilities, recording studios, sound-editing suites, animation studios, a photographic studio, radio studio, and multimedia laboratory. Industry standard equipment includes a chroma key infinity wall, motorised lighting rigs, and media editing booths, while Mac studio facilities provide access to the latest editing and audio tools.

Faculty of Education

Our Lakeside Faculty of Education building is home to our Education and Teaching programmes, and inside students will find fantastic learning spaces like our 300-seat lecture theatre, 5 ICT suites and 18 teaching rooms.

Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine

The Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine is one of the leading providers of education and training for health and social care professionals in the North West of England. The outstanding teaching and learning resources include leading clinical skills facilities, an 860-seat lecture theatre, and a variety of teaching rooms and social learning spaces.

Geosciences

The Department of Geography’s modern facilities combine with a friendly and supportive learning environment.

The Geosciences building features a large lecture theatre, physical geography and environmental science laboratories, a geology laboratory housing the department’s collection of geological specimens, a geo-engineering laboratory, geo-information laboratories, small group teaching rooms, and a large social area.

Law and Psychology

A recent addition to campus, the £6m Law and Psychology building is home to students studying Law, Criminology, Policing and Politics programmes. Here, you’ll find versatile teaching and learning spaces including a 257-seat lecture theatre, seminar and rooms, and social learning areas designed with group work in mind.

Main Building

The Department of English, History and Creative Writing is situated within the Main Building. The building has undergone extensive refurbishment to combine a traditional setting with modern facilities. For our students, the building includes lecture theatres, seminar and tutorial rooms, which are ideal for group discussions and one-to-one tuition, as well as IT resources and social learning spaces.

Police Training and Simulation Centre

A dedicated Police Training and Simulation Facility (Crime House), part of which is to be furbished as a police station, is used to simulate a wide range of crime scenes. This will enable Policing and Law students to work together in areas such as gathering and analysing evidence, including forensic evidence at crime scenes, as well as practicing interview techniques used by the police through role play, while also ensuring that the rights of suspects are upheld.

Tech Hub

Our £13m Tech Hub is home to students studying Computing, IT and Engineering programmes. Here, you’ll find a range of cutting-edge technologies, specialist laboratories and teaching spaces. Facilities include our four-screen CAVE (Computer Augmented Virtual Environment), labs for networking, games programming and research, and a Harvard-style lecture theatre.

Wilson Centre

The Wilson Centre is home to our Department of Sport and Physical Activity, and is equipped with a multitude of specialist laboratories and state-of-the-art equipment. You’ll find industry-standard facilities including a sports therapy clinic, functional rehabilitation centre, musculoskeletal lab and sleep, exercise and performance lab.

Red Bar

The Red Bar is located in the Arts Centre, right next to our theatres. The bar serves refreshments and small meals and is open during the day as well as in the evening – the perfect place to relax and enjoy some social time before the latest performance begins.

Based in our £27m Catalyst building, a number of teams can help you with almost any aspect of student life, ensuring that you have a rewarding and enjoyable student experience and go on to further success in your future career.

The Hub

Upstairs in the Hub you can find informal study space, where there is also plenty of additional room to catch up with friends.

Edge Hill Sport

Edge Hill Sport offers some of the best sporting facilities in the region including a 80-station fitness suite, 25m swimming pool, spacious exercise studios and 6 outdoor pitches.

You can also find a purpose-built 2.5km conditioning trail around the perimeter of the outdoor facilities incorporating changes in gradients and fitness stations along the route. Also home of the Ormskirk parkrun!

Back Halls

163 rooms are available in Back Halls. These halls share kitchens, a common room, bathrooms/shower rooms and toilets.

Chancellor's Court/South

508 rooms are available in Chancellors Court and 245 are available in Chancellors South. Both are set out in flats of four, six or eight rooms which share a kitchen and dining area.

Forest Court

142 rooms are available in Forest Court. Four of the halls offer en-suite facilities and six offer shared bathroom facilities.

Founders Court

144 en-suite rooms are available across Founders East and Founders West, set out in flats of four, six or eight rooms which share a kitchen and dining area.

Graduates Court

141 en-suite rooms are available in Graduates Court, set out in flats of four, six or eight rooms which share a kitchen and dining area.

Main Halls

98 rooms are available in Main Halls which are situated on the upper two floors in the east and west wings of the original main building. The east wing offers en-suite, self-catered accommodation with shared kitchen facilities. The west wing offers shared bathrooms, catered accommodation.

Palatine Court

312 en-suite rooms are available in Palatine Court, set out in flats of four, six or eight rooms which share a kitchen and dining area.

Woodland Court

265 en-suite rooms are available in Woodland Court for students in Year 3. These townhouses have 8,9 or 12 bedrooms on the upper floors and share a kitchen and dining area on the ground floor.

The Hub

Sages serves hot food all day long, and has lots of seating. If you are in a hurry you can pick up food from our Grab n Go counter. You can also find the Coffee Bar, serving Starbucks in the Hub.

The Rose Theatre and Studio Theatre

The Arts Centre hosts a diverse range of high-quality professional productions, including comedy, dance, drama, literature, music and family-friendly shows, designed to entertain students as well as local and regional communities.

Relax after your workout in the Coffee Bar that can be found in Edge Hill Sport, serving Starbucks coffee.

The Moot Room

A mock courtroom allows our Policing and Law students to train and practice their advocacy skills and cross-examination techniques, as well as preparing for giving evidence in court.

Cafe Rewind

Cafe Rewind can be found downstairs in the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine and serves breakfast, artisan coffee and light lunches.

Students' Union Bar

University nightlife plays an important part in student social life. Regular themed nights include Fun House Mondays, Social (on Wednesdays) and SU Saturdays. If you want to relax in the SU Bar, the weekly line-up of events includes the Strangled Cats Karaoke Club and a Sunday night quiz, with live sport shown on plasma TVs.

Stone Willy’s Kitchen serves a huge range of student-favourite meals, from stone-baked sourdough pizzas and loaded fries, to vegan burgers and chicken bites.
