If you are interested in research degrees, we recommend speaking to our Graduate School. You may also like to visit the chatrooms for the taught courses within your subject area to find out more about research within the department.
What happens when I join a chatroom?
You can join and leave our chatrooms as you please anytime between 3pm and 5.30pm for informal conversations with academic tutors.
- Chatrooms are held on Microsoft Teams. If joining on a mobile or tablet, you will need to download the Teams app before joining. You can download this from the App Store or from Google Play.
- You do not need a Teams account to join
- If you like, you’ll be able to use your camera and microphone to chat with academics over video
- If you prefer, you can simply type your questions into the Q&A whilst in the Teams session, and academics will answer over video. You can choose to toggle your camera and microphone off before joining
- If our tutors are already chatting with other attendees, you may need to wait in the lobby before they admit you
- Given the flexible drop-in format of the event, you may find that other attendees are present when you join a session, or join the session you are already in. It is recommended that you don’t post messages containing personal information. You’ll be able to see how many people are in the room before joining.
