Staff and students at Edge Hill University are taking part in the national BRIT Challenge to promote physical and mental wellbeing and we’re inviting our alumni and local community to join in too.

Following on from the success of our Feel Good February events, the University is teaming up with the British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) to support young adults, staff and student mental health and fitness. The theme for this year’s challenge is ‘23’.

Alison Clark, Head of Student Life, commented: “We’re proud to be a part of the BRIT Challenge again this year. The mental health of our Edge Hill community is important to us, and we plan to make this year bigger than ever with a range of activities focussing on the importance of physical health as well as good mental health.”

The University is running events and activities on campus starting on Monday 6 March, spanning seven days. The week incorporates Money Advice Week and University Mental Health Day, which we’ll be marking on 7 March, and then our Spring Careers Fair for students and alumni is taking place on 9 March.

Join us for our launch event on Monday 6 March at 11.30am to 1.30pm at the Student Arch in the Hub and check out the range of free activities being offered at Edge Hill Sport during the week. There is also a programme of activities for our Manchester based students who can get involved in a walking tour of 23 points of interest across the city.

The three sports challenges are:

  • 23k MOVEs in a week – MEGA MOVES Challenge!
  • Cover 23k, on foot, in a week – Step by Step!
  • Attend 23 sessions in a week- Teamwork makes the Dreamwork!

Alison continued: “Our aim is to encourage students and staff to take part in one or all of our three sports challenges throughout the week, get together with friends and have some fun whilst focussing on their mental health and wellbeing. How you take part really is up to you.”

Schedule for the week:

  • Monday 6 March – BRIT Challenge Launch Event, 11.30am-13.30pm
  • Tuesday 7 March – University Mental Health Day, 11.30am-14.30pm
  • Wednesday 8 March – Student Quiz, 12.00noon-13.00pm
  • Thursday 9 March – Connect with 23 employers at the Careers Fair, 10.00am-14.30pm
