Please note: Although we do our best to ensure all details in our programme are accurate, due to the dynamic nature of events information in this guide is subject to change. We may be filming or taking photographs during your visit. If you have any concerns about this, please talk to a member of staff at an Information Point or at Check-in.
Important information
Information desks are available in each building with staff on hand to answer any questions. If you have a question or you need some directions, events staff are easy to spot in bright purple vests and purple polo shirts.
Check in: We recommend checking-in at least half an hour before the first session you’d like to attend – for example if you wanted to attend the Discover EHU talk at 12.15pm, we’d recommend checking-in at around 11:45am to give yourself enough time.

Plan your day
Everyone wants something different from their open day, so we’ve put together our recommendations below. Click the boxes to see what we recommend for you. If you’re arriving in the morning we recommend getting here for 9.15am to check in and get to your first talk, or 11.30am if you’re spending the afternoon with us.
If you’ve never been to an open day before, or your supporters didn’t go to university, here’s how we suggest you plan your day to get all the information you need:
Be sure to attend our Discover EHU talk to get an overview of life at Edge Hill, why you should study here and our award-winning accommodation.
Allow approx 15 minutes for this or 35 if you want to find out about accommodation too
You should also attend your subject presentation, and the drop-in sessions that run throughout the day in each department building. This means you’ll get an overview of your chosen course and get to meet your lecturers and some current students to get your questions answered or have a look around the facilities you’ll be using.
Allow approx 1.5 hours for this
Head to our Discover your first steps to university: A guide for students and families talk which will introduce you to everything you need to know about university and higher education, perfect if you’re first in family to go to university.
Allow 30 minutes for this
Build in some time to take a campus tour. You’ll see everything, from the Faculty of Health to The Sports Centre and everything in between – guided by a current student who can show you their favourite spots.
Allow approx 1 hour for this
If you’re thinking about living on campus, you should look around some of our award-winning accommodation. Tours are self guided so you can do this at your own pace, and we recommend viewing 2-3 different halls to get an idea on which would suit you. Or you could head to a student finance talk or one of our other university life talks if you already know where you want to live.
Allow approx 1.5 hours for this
Head to our student experience fair, which has all of our support teams in one place. You can ask about student finance, accommodation, studying abroad, student support and can confidentially chat to our inclusion team about any needs you may have. This runs throughout the day, so we’d suggest leaving this until later on or doing this when you have breaks in between sessions.
Allow approx 30 mins for this
It might help to watch our video on what happens on an open day, so you can get prepared and know what to expect:
We know open days can be overwhelming for some people. So here’s how we recommend you spend your day if you need a quieter visit:
Attend the afternoon Discover EHU talk. The afternoon talk tends to be much quieter, and is located in a smaller room so will be less crowded for those who prefer this.
Allow approx 15 minutes for this or 35 if you want to find out about accommodation too
You should also attend your subject presentation if you can, or head to the drop-in sessions that run throughout the day in each department building to get your questions answered and have a look around the facilities you’ll be using.
Allow approx 1.5 hours for this
We also recommend you take regular breaks. We have a dedicated quiet room (Business School – Map location 9) available for you to take some time out, or you can head to one of the many beautiful spots on campus to have a few minutes of reflection.
Head to our student experience fair, which has all of our support teams in one place. This runs throughout the day and will be quieter when subject sessions are running (see the subject timetable for details). You can find out more about the support available for anyone who might have additional needs at the student experience fair too.
Allow approx 1 hour for this
You can also take a look around our accommodation at your own pace, we recommend viewing 2-3 if you’re undecided on which halls to choose, but you can do as much or as little as you like.
Allow approx 1 hour for this
Our campus tours run all day, but are quieter later on in the event from around 1-2pm if you’d prefer to tour campus with a smaller group.
Allow approx 45 minutes for this
We have dedicated talks for postgraduate students to help you get the exact information you need, here’s how we suggest you spend the day if you’re looking at postgraduate courses:
You can attend our Discover EHU talk to get an overview of life at Edge Hill, why you should study here and our award-winning accommodation.
Allow approx 15 minutes for this
You should also attend a “discover” talk for your area – either in taught, research or PGCE postgraduate degrees. These talks will give you insights into how the courses are delivered and life at Edge Hill.
Allow approx 45 minutes for this
We recommend factoring in time to head to a postgraduate drop-in either in your subject facilities or if you have questions about admissions you can head to the drop-in in our business school.
Allow approx 1 hour for this
You should also attend your subject presentation. Check out the table below to see what your department is running and which sessions are suitable for your course.
Allow approx 45 minutes for this
Head to our student experience fair, which has all of our support teams in one place. You can ask about student finance, accommodation, studying abroad, student support and much more.

We’re here to help
Staff at our Information Points, located in each open day building, are here to give you directions, answer your questions and help you if you need any assistance.
We’re proud of our events and we like to share them. So please note that we may be filming or taking photographs during your visit. If you have any concerns about this, please talk to a member of staff.
Open days are full of new information, so be sure to take some time out from the excitement to reflect and enjoy some delicious food at one of our outlets. Keep an eye out for special offers on the day too.
Toilets (including accessible facilities) are available in each building on campus. Please ask any member of staff or Student Guide for directions. Baby changing facilities are available on the ground floor of the Business School and in the Main Building.
Our Faith and Reflection Room is open for all visitors throughout the day. It’s a space for contemplation, prayer and reflection. To gain access, head to map point 18 or ask a member of staff or Student Guide who’ll take you there.
We’ve created a quiet space so, if you need to, you can take a break from the busy open day environment. Ask at our Information Point in the Business School and we’ll take you to our quiet room.
If you or any of your party feel unwell or become injured while you’re here, please speak to staff at the nearest Information Point or in Registration. They’ll make any requests for additional assistance (e.g. first aid or ambulance requirements).
If you hear our fire alarm, leave the building by the nearest exit. Once outside the building, follow instructions from staff and Student Guides. We’ll let you know when it’s safe for you to go back inside a building.
If you misplace any of your property during your visit or find an item you think belongs to someone else, let us know. Talk to a member of staff at one of our Information Points and they’ll assist you.
Have some more questions?
If you finish the day and have questions, or there’s anything else you’d like to know before you get here then you can call, email or WhatsApp us on the details below.
