I’ve recommended Fastrack to lots of people already, so if you are thinking about it I would tell you to just go for it – don’t have a second thought.
“I’d talked for years about getting back into education and saw an article in the local press about Edge Hill’s Fastrack course. I’d not had the opportunity to study for a degree before and thought, “Finally! This is my chance!” I wanted to be a good role model for my children and to do something for myself.
Before the course began I had no idea of how it would be. I knew it would be demanding but was excited and prepared to face the challenge. I was also a little anxious as it had been a while since I’d been in education.
The course was a mix of practical and academic skills. We did group work, presentations, report and essay planning, academic writing and generally learnt what it is like being at university. It was quite daunting standing in front of a group of people presenting, especially as I was one of the oldest on the course, but I did it and I learnt a lot.
There were times when I struggled, but the encouragement and support from my tutors was great. They were approachable and helpful and I could easily talk to them. I really wasn’t confident writing essays, with introductions and conclusions being my biggest problems, but with their help I overcame the issues. My tutor has even said that I’ve developed my own writing style which is huge for me!
Fastrack has taught me how to be in an academic environment and that a degree is achievable with time, support and effort. I’m pleased to say that this is what I’m doing right now, as I’ve progressed onto studying a BSc (Hons) in Business and Management with Human Resource Management at Edge Hill.
I’ve recommended Fastrack to lots of people already, so if you are thinking about it I would tell you to just go for it, don’t have a second thought. You will get so much confidence from it.”
