Biography

Stephanie Wearing-Kennedy is a Senior Lecturer in Business Management and Accounting at Edge Hill University, where she has taught since February 2023.

She brings a strong background combining academia with a successful career in the automotive industry. Before Edge Hill, she was a Lecturer in Business Management at University Academy 92, and an Associate Lecturer in Business Management and Accounting at the University of Central Lancashire. She has also worked as a Business Lecturer with an alternative provider, focusing on widening participation and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.

Stephanie’s industry experience spans operational to senior management roles in the automotive sector, giving her a practical, real-world perspective that she brings into the classroom. She holds the CIMA Accredited Sage Certificate and is currently undertaking the Sage Digital Cloud Financial Skills qualification, supported by ACCA, progressing towards the Advanced level. She is also registered to study AAT. Alongside her teaching, Stephanie maintains active engagement in accounting practice to keep her knowledge and skills current, ensuring her teaching reflects real-world professional standards.

Research Interests

Stephanie’s current focus is on maintaining and developing practical, industry-current expertise in accounting and business software, including Sage and cloud accounting systems, to ensure her teaching reflects real-world professional practice.

Teaching

Stephanie’s teaching is centred on bringing real-world scenarios into the classroom, with a particular focus on widening participation and making business and accounting education accessible to students from diverse backgrounds. Her contributions to teaching have been recognised through multiple awards, including for academic excellence, resilience, and best lecturer.
