Sean McEvoy
LLB (Hons) Law with Criminology
During the summer I was given an opportunity to engage with a work placement at High Street Solicitors in Liverpool for six weeks. While there, I observed how solicitors work and learnt about Japanese knotweed law, something I knew little about before starting this placement. I also enjoyed talking over the phone to both clients and the courts, helping to organise cases, shadowing solicitors, and managing important paperwork. Having the opportunity to develop key teamwork and communication skills while working in a professional team was valuable and has improved my future employment prospects.
Gaining highly skilled employment
High Street Solicitors are an experienced Law firm based in Liverpool, specialising in claims relating to mis-selling of mortgage loans and cavity wall insulation. Sean successfully secured the summer placement role of Legal Assistant, assisting the team in the wider department at High Street Solicitors to manage caseloads effectively.
Sean developed key industry knowledge, covering different areas of Law, such as Housing Disrepair, Japanese Knotweed, Financial Mis-selling and Data Breech. Sean can now confidently showcase valuable industry knowledge when taking part in future interviews with prospective employers.
Sean applied knowledge from his studies to a practical setting, successfully completing a placement in the legal sector.
“During the time Sean worked with us I was impressed with his attitude and his diligence. He was a good listener and caught on to new issues and tasks quickly and capably. I personally wish Sean the very best with his future.”
