Biography

Sarah is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Edge Hill University. Prior to that she had extensive teaching experience of Computer Science within the Further Education sector.

She leads a Tech Women’s Club in the Computer Science Dept at Edge Hill University aimed at empowering women to realise their potential in Computer Science. Also in the department Sarah is Chair of the Teaching & Learning Committee and passionate about the quality of practice in teaching and learning in Computer Science. She served as a member of the Athena Swan Self-Assessment Team (SAT) contributing significantly to the attainment of a successful Bronze Award. 

Sarah holds a PhD titled, ‘An IoT Approach to Personalised Remote Monitoring & Management of Epilepsy’, which was in collaboration with a specialist NHS trust. In particular, this project investigated the benefits of the Internet of Things (IoT) for delivering healthcare.

Her current research focuses upon Hydration monitoring by leveraging wearable sensors and machine learning techniques to create dehydration detection models, ultimately with an aim to endorse a more accurate and refined way of remotely managing the ‘individual’ patient.
