Biography
Please tell us a little bit about yourself (e.g. current job role/previous experience relating to your role?
I have worked in primary education for almost 15 years now, working in schools in South Korea, Liverpool, Knowsley and Halton. I have worked across every year group from EYFS-Year 6 and have had many roles at the school throughout the years, gaining insightful experience in all. Currently, my role is Assistant Head Teacher in the largest primary school in Halton. Day-to-day, I work alongside the senior leadership team and assist the Head Teacher in the everyday operations of running a busy school and continuing to drive and develop the schools’ initiatives. I have been the lead student mentor for trainees in school for the past 7 years. I really enjoy the role of student lead and working alongside trainee teachers and supporting them throughout their educational journey.
Why were you interested in the role?
I was interested in the role as I’ve enjoyed previously working with the university on different projects and I felt that I could put my experience to good use. I am fully committed to the teaching profession and was keen to contribute to the training and development of our future teachers. I always enjoyed supporting and working alongside trainees within school and found great satisfaction, as a mentor, in supporting the trainees.
What inspired you to do the role with Edge Hill University?
I felt that my experience could be shared with others, to support their journey into the teaching profession. As a host school for Edge Hill trainees, and working with Edge Hill closely on a number of ITaPS, I recognised that Edge Hill University always presented as a professional, innovative and supportive institution and I felt that I too could enhance my own experience and skills working with such an institution.

Do it! It’s a brilliant chance to expand your knowledge and experience, and it will really benefit your school as well.
