Biography

Paula qualified from Edge Hill in 1998 when it was a higher education institute.

Paula’s clinical background is within colorectal surgery, upper GI/hepatobiliary surgery, infection control, practice education facililtator (PEF).

Paula is still in practice and works in a dementia and challenging behaviours nursing unit every week.

Paula has special interests in the role of simulation in nurse education; mental health in relation to dementia and addictions.

Paula is a personal tutor to a number of students on the BSc (Hons) Nursing Programme, as well as being an Academic Assessor to Students in Practice on BSc programmes.

In this role at Edge Hill to date, Paula was the simulated practice learning lead for year 1 for 18 months and was the Msci year of study lead for September 22 students.

Additionally Paula is the Year of Study Lead for the September Bsc Nursing Year 1. Paula has the responsibilities of overall leadership and co-ordination with regards to the delivery of the curriculum for Year 1. Paula works very closely with fellow Year of Study Leads and Programme Leads.
